What is Out and Loud?

Out & Loud is a choral festival for LGBTQIA+ choirs across Australasia and the world, to gather, share experiences, and sing together. With its origins in ‘Camp Music’ in Sydney (2001), the festival has been held roughly every 4 years and is coming to Perth for the first time in its 25 year history! 

Over 300 singers gathered in Canberra (2019) and Sydney (2023), representing LGBTQIA+ choirs from Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Sydney, Perth, Canberra, Auckland, USA, Fiji, Tokyo and Timor-Leste. 

Participants join to rehearse, learn new music, and participate in workshops covering musicianship, wellbeing and inclusion. Each choir performs their own repertoire at ‘pop-up’ performances in the city and at the end of festival gala concert, where all choirs come together to perform two original pieces from our O&L song competition, as well a commissioned work.
