Collaborations Handbook

Global Alliance’s Steering Group have developed the Collaborations Handbook which summarises best practice, simplifies and demystifies the collaborations process, and reminds groups of some key items to help your group avoid a number of pitfalls.

Through a series of workshop chapters and activities, it comprehensively covers everything from scheduling, getting visas and not getting arrested!  It also suggests a number of important respect protocols, that will help your two choirs work together equitably and with cultural sensitivity.

GLOBAL ALLIANCE OF QUEER CHOIRS

Formerly know as the GALA External Relations Committee, the Global Alliance of Queer Choirs (the Alliance) has launched as an independent and truly global alliance, unaffiliated to any particular region or association.

The people collaborating on the Alliance are:

Charlie Beale (Chair)

(emeritus New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, Gala Choruses –-  USA)

Martin Brophy (Treasurer)

(London Gay Men’s Chorus, Legato and Various Voices – Europe)

Hsien Chew (Secretary)

(Pink Singers, Proud Voices – Asia)

Robin Godfrey

(Gala Choruses Executive Director)

Jenny Heald

(Canberra Qwire and Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir – Oceania)

Gianluca Ragazzini

(Tone Cluster–quite a queer choir, Unison Choruses – Canada)

Oscar Urtusástegui (Coro Gay Ciudad de México).

The GAQC is purely international, and initially will be mainly around building relationships. The Alliance hopes to support each and every choir, by offering an increased international dimension, and by raising awareness of the activities of Queer choral organizations and groups across the world.

The group will continue collaborating internationally over Festival dates, sharing good practice, and fostering artistic collaborations around the world.
